In severe cases, consuming grapes or raisins could result in the dog dying due to this condition.

We all love our pets and work to keep them out of harm’s way. However, sometimes mistakes happen. Dogs steal food. This is a reality for pet owners. If you believe your dog has consumed a grape, you must take action.

The AKC lists signs of a toxic ingestion to include visible lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain when touched, dehydration (seen through panting or dry nose), increased thirst or urination, diminished urination, and kidney failure.

Administer treatment as soon as possible if you believe you dog has consumed a grape. You should contact your vet immediately. They may advise you to induce vomiting in your dog.

The toxicity of grapes for dogs might have you frightened, but there are many fruits that your dog can safely enjoy.
